Design of the Month contest
is closing |
It is with great sadness that we
must announce the closure of our celebrated Design of the Month
contest. It is our sincere hope this this is just a short term event and that we
will be able to open this contest again in the very near future.
The primary reason for closing this contest down
is an inability on the part of FlisKits to keep the contest current. Our growth has
been so strong this past year that we find ourselves unable to focus our energies on
everything that is going on. Now, this growth is a good thing. Unfortunately
for items such as the DOM, we have to acknowledge that customer orders, product
development, customer satisfaction and inventory control all take priority over most
anything else we are working on.
Over the past 6 months it has taken us longer
and longer to put up DOM entries and inform the winners of our decisions. As of the
date of this announcement we are over 2 months behind in getting the pages updated.
This has been a frustration to our contestants as well as to us here at FlisKits. We
feel that we are doing our customers a disservice to make claims regarding our contest
while being unable to make good on those claims.
The March and April
contests have closed and winners have been selected. We hope to
have the entries for both of these contests posted soon and the winners announced.
The May contest is open and entries have been
received.
At this time, the Design of the Month contest is
slated to close on 31-May for an
indeterminate amount of time. We will work our hardest to get this contest opened up
again, but we will not do so unless we are confident that we can fulfill our end of the
responsibilities.
At this time, the 2005 Design of the Year winner
would be chosen from the first place DOM winners through May 2005. Other months will
be included should the DOM be re-opened before the end of the year. For that reason,
a DOY winner will not be announced until January of 2006.
Also, as for the 2004 Design of the Year winning
entry, the Torpedo. FlisKits has already been in contact with the
winner (Scott Clement) regarding the production status of that kit.
Keep watch for an announcement.
We wish to thank everyone who has entered our
Design of the Month contest. Your entries have been exciting, fun and
inspiring. We feel that such a contest is a very important element to the rocketry
community and hope to be able to restart the DOM very soon. All posted entries to
date will remain on our site and we encourage you to look them over and even build the
ones that strike your fancy.
