![]() ...as does the Drake |
![]() Scott and I pose with his up-scale of the A.C.M.E. Spitfire. Absolutely beautiful! Scott has done a great job and hopes to finish and fly this soon. He was kind enough to let us keep the model on display for the week. Needless to say, it got a LOT of attention! |
![]() Gordon Angelo and Fred Talasco pose with their "Deuce-bash" models, Gordon's Titan and Fred's Nike-Deuce. |
![]() The proto-type FarScape takes to the air. This model is SO pretty in the air! |
![]() My A.C.M.E. Spitfire (the original proto-type) puts in a great flight |
![]() Carl preparing the ignitors in the upscale of the Deuce's Wild! the 38'Special. |
![]() Beautiful on those white motors, much to the delight of the crowd. I still say it looks best with the black smokers though! |
![]() Here's a look at NAR City from the sport range |
![]() Carl returns with his Deuce after a short walk. The flying was incredible with very little drift. |
![]() Here is a shot of Fred Telasco's Der Red Max with a most unusual diorama to go with it. |
![]() John McCoy does something similar but in his traditional Micro-Maxx form! The attention to detail is a sight to behold |
![]() Kevin Johnson's Imagination Celebration Super Big Bertha with 24 gliders. Unfortunately, most of them stayed on the model... |
![]() John poses with his micro-diorama |
![]() A close up shows the detail. I tried to get a launch shot, but no luck! |
![]() An R/C rocket glider boosting befor an excited crowd |
![]() The best way to get the most out of your rocket motor! |
![]() The Glider Bertha takes to the air! |
![]() Gordon's modified FlisKits Tres with a tail cone, Escape Ship and a very unique look all her own. |
![]() Gordon ready's her for launch |
![]() I had the wrong shutter setting, but she sure did scoot! |
![]() While I was away from the booth, we had a short rain come through. When I got back I found all of my rockets piled into the back seat! sheesh! |
![]() Here is the tail end of Gordon's Tres showing the tail cone and the fact that the motor burn caused absolutely NO damage to the cone. |
![]() Fred shows off his beautiful roadster race rocket, with pipes and all! |
![]() A rear view shows off the pipes and fins beautifully |
![]() WHOOP! Here we go. An entourage follows Carl out to the check in table with the upscale Tres being readied for a full-up two stage flight. |
![]() |
![]() Carl sets her on the pad while on-lookers and helpers admire the model. |
![]() Carl poses with this beast. You can get a good idea of her size in this picture. |
![]() She stands alone in the tranquil field, awaiting that moment when her igniters explode in such a fury that she has no choice but to leep off the pad. |
| Now, we were all set for the launch when the sport range RSO calls into the contest range to make everyone aware that the most complicated launch of NARAM was about to take place. We were all set to hear the RSO begin the countdown when we realized that the RSO at the CONTEST range was doing it. It seems they shut down the entire range and the entire attendance of NARAM stopped to see what was going on. |
![]() This is what they saw. It was worth the interuption. She ROARED off the pad! After a short burn, there was a pregnant pause as the model silently coasted upwards, then you saw the drag-separation as the upper stage slide off of her booster. Those who did not know about this configuration thought it was in the middle of a major failure. We held our breath as the booster began to arc over, gravity doing her job. Suddenly, we see a flash and the upper stage is screaming into the air just as the main parachutes are being pumped out of the booster. The sustainer climbs to a high altitude then deploys her chute as well. So perfect was this flight that we didn't have to walk more than a couple hundred feet to recover all the components. Simply incredible. Thank you Carl! |

![]() Here is a picture of our booth at NARAM. With the number of kits and parts we now offer, we have grown to two tents. |
![]() Wanting to do some fun flying that I normally don't get to do, I brought my Mini-Starlight model (this was an anniversary kit from our old NEMROC conventions). |
![]() She flys beautifully and I love to get her into the air. |
![]() Mike was an ANIMAL on the field. He would bring out a large armload of models, fly for an hour, then go back for more! |
![]() Another shot of the FarScape in action! |
![]() In the middle of NARAM we had a day off. Many folks took advantage of this to visit various museums. Kathy and I decided to take a day long trip into the mountains. It was wonderful! |
![]() We saw many deer and even a bear on our quiet trip. |
![]() The A.C.M.E. Spitfire on the auction block! |
![]() Jack Hagarty and I pose with Jack's Tres. He did a beautiful job and got several good flights out of her |
![]() George with his up-scale, frankenstein of a Deuce, with FOUR 24mm motors. WOW! |
![]() A closeup of the tail shows you that this beast means business! |
![]() On the pad she strikes an incredible pose |
![]() The burn looks good, but in fact only 2 of the motors light. She flew well, but will fly so much better with all 4 motors burning. |
![]() Jack's Tres on the pad and ready to go |
![]() And of she goes! perfect burn, perfect flight! |
![]() A sight for sore eyes, or a sight sure to make your eyes sore. Hard to tell! Certainly the most unusual collection of Redstone missiles ever assembled in one place! |
