![]() David Hash shows off his FlisKits USS Grissom model. David did a *wonderful* job on this kit! Just incredible when you consider the complexity of this model. |
![]() Our booth after setup on the first day. This is only the 2nd time we've had these signs to use and they really helped to show off our booth after the place go crowded. You can also see our kits hanging from the awning. |
![]() This is our new method of displaying our built kits. A dowel in the ground with a motor casing attached to the top. Very effective and it attracted a lot of attention. |
![]() Dave Hash with his CAUTION rocket. He did a great job on this one too! |
![]() Nice black smoke trail! |
![]() Our imfamous grass fire... This was actually a controlled burn by the farmer. |
The launch field (that line of trees is about 1 mile distant) |
![]() Stars-N-Stripes |
![]() The Deuce's Wild! on a good burn (I can't recall if this one was mine or someone elses...) |
![]() A two stager off the low power pads (I *really* wish they would stop calling these the "Estes pads"...) |
![]() An M or N powered bird being readied at the Away Cell |
![]() Cool |
![]() The FlisKits Long OverDue on a picture perfect flight. |
![]() This will give you an idea of how close the runway was to the away cells. |
![]() The A.C.M.E. Spitfire ready for flight. She turned in a perfect flight but I failed to get a launch picture as the countdown was too sudden. |
![]() Unknown, but cool |
![]() Here is part of "Vendor Alley" with Performance Rocketry right out front. |
![]() Here is Loc/Precision |
![]() And here are the long lines... |
![]() Justin Cartisano shows me his scratch built cluster bird. Great looking rocket and it flew beautifully! |
![]() A retro style rocket, very cool |
![]() My 24mm upscale Deuce's Wild! on dual E9's |
![]() Here I am taking a business call in the middle of the field! |
![]() While it was frustrating to have the field shut down everytime a plan took to the air, it was VERY cool to see all of these vintage craft in the air. |
![]() Here is another great shot. |
![]() I could see Doc's (Drake Demerau) upscale Andromeda from my tent and had to get a good pic. When I first saw this fly at NSL-2003, I missed the launch and never got a picture. I was determined to get one this time! (as an aside, you may not know that the FlisKits Drake is named after Drake Demerau as a co-designer of that kit) |
![]() Some beautiful HPR models |
![]() The ill-fated Mosquito being prepped for launch |
![]() A common sight at LDRS was seeing someone carrying a rocket that just seemed to be TOO big! |
![]() Here is the low rent district of Vendor Alley. You can see the FlisKits booth off in the distance. Those signs really paid off! |
![]() Here is a great shot of one of the planes that flew right over head. |
![]() And another with the flag. |
![]() Here Chuck and Justin show off their latest creations. Just beautiful! |
![]() Here we see the upcoming FlisKits FarScape on the pad. I missed the launch photo because I wasn't ready. She was 3rd on the pad and when they got to this rack, the very first launch was mine and it was announced very quickly, just like this: "and on pad 3 we have something called a farscape on 3, 2, 1, whoose!" Very frustrating. |
![]() Chuck's retro model rips into the air! |
![]() and a perfect recovery too |
![]() I beleive this is a tube finned rocket. |
![]() This is Justin's scratch built (on the left). This wasn't supposed to be a drag race, but the LCO had the controlls mis-configured. |
![]() I saw Doc standing in line with the Andromeda and managed to get myself invited to help him get it out to the pad and set up. |
![]() Sitting on the pad, this model strikes an impressive pose all her own. |
![]() You will notice that the model is leaning heavily on the thinner rod as Doc begins to set her up. |
![]() Doc installs the ignitor |
![]() A beautiful shot with the sun. |
![]() Doc poses with the Andromeda as we prepare to wait for launch. NOW: Because of the long lines we wait a good 45 minutes while watching this beauty buffeted in the wind. By the time we get to this line of pads and get ready to launch, sure enough, the wind snaps the lugs and off the pad she comes. Fortunately no damage. Doc later outfits her with rail buttons and goes to a rail pad but has ignitor problems. About 3 hours later I'm sitting there and I hear WHOOSH! and off she went! I could NOT beleive that I had missed this a second time! AAARRRGGGHHH! |
![]() A large Sandhawk |
![]() Lines getting longer |
![]() A Patriot |
![]() Unknown |
![]() Unknown |
![]() David Hash's USS Grissom on pad 2. She turned in a beautiful flight but wound up lawn darting as the streamer David used was not up to the task. Minimal damage |
![]() My first ever witnessing of a spool rocket. Incredible |
![]() Perfect recovery. Well, near-perfect. She came down right into the infield of the launch area, landing near one of the HPR pads. The parachute was blown past one pad and the kevlar shock cord sliced a rocket clean off the rail. |
![]() unknown |
![]() Unknown |
![]() But a great recovery pic |
![]() And another. |
![]() While I missed the launch of Doc's Andromeda, I was able to catch a nice recovery shot as she drifted right over our truck and landed about 50 feet into the field just past us. |
![]() My Richter Recker on E9's ready for launch. This was the only rocket I flew that needed to be on an HPR pad. |
![]() WOW! |
![]() I have no idea what this is and I never saw it fly, but I just HAD to take a picture of it :) |
![]() Unknown |
![]() I don't know who this is, but I just loved his upscale of the Interceptor. I missed a launch picture. |
![]() unknown |
![]() unknown |
![]() Off goes the Richter Recker for a perfect boost. The top section strip a chute, but it glided in nicely to a safe recovery out near the Away Cells. |
![]() The huge Mosquito in her ill-fated voyage. |
![]() only to core-sample just a short distance beyond the parking area. This was one scary flight. |
![]() A Pheonix |
![]() An R/C rocket glider. Put in an incredible flight, boost and glide perfect. |
![]() Unknown |
![]() Someone's upscale Cobra. Absolutely beautiful! |
![]() Bruce Levison poses with his Deuce's Wild! |
![]() My Tres off to a picture perfect flight |
![]() and picture perfect recovery |
![]() I am not sure of the exact nature of this vehicle, but it was absolutely beautiful |
![]() Bruce's Deuce on a perfect recovery. |
![]() Chuck's retro rocket on a great boost |
![]() A smaller Mosquito takes to the air. |
![]() Somebody must have doused the area in AP-Off as it was a bad day for Mosquito's.... |
![]() Someone with a very large Bomarc |
![]() Dennis Roberts with his Deuce's Wild! There were a lot of them out here today! |
![]() Unknown |
![]() Unknown |
![]() I finally got a good picture of the FarScape during boost. A picture perfect flight to the delight of all. |
![]() An Honest John. Great flight |
![]() Unknown, but a great recovery pic |
![]() My repainted Praetor on the pad |
![]() Me posing with it |
![]() A great launch shot, but it is hard to see the tips of the fins as they are painted silver. I may have to re-think that... |
