The A.C.M.E. Redstone sits on the pad waiting for the countdown.   The launch tower broke during shipping and I am looking at a new design that will be stronger.

The Long awaited, long over due Long OverDue sits longingly on the long launch rod
(sorry, couldn't resist that headline!)

The Pheord X-150 boosts with the Athena (from the Triple Threat) riding piggy-back for a 2-stage flight
p1130713.jpg (57932 bytes)
This is why I love flying saucer rockets.  You can't loose them!  If you look closely you will see the Pheord in the lower left and the Athena near the center right.  The launch pad they left from is in the center!

John Cronin has introduced yet MORE children to the wonders of rocketry with the FlisKits Rhino.

A naked Drake leaves the pad
p1130722.jpg (22469 bytes)
One of dozens of Rhino's returns after a perfect flight!
p1130723.jpg (61197 bytes)
A Nomad is readied for the pad.  This is one of those models that you don't see at many launches and is a joy to watch fly.  This Nomad was outfitted with a D12-0 / B6-0 / C6-0 and carried an altimeter.  It was fully recovered and reached an altitude of 1398 feet.

Another Rhino under full chute, only to land....
p1130725.jpg (49533 bytes)
...right alongside the pad it left from!

A bright orange Cheetah! ready for the launch pad.
p1130727.jpg (73793 bytes)
This next series of pix (4 in all) shows a panoramic view of the launch area and cars parked in the distance.  This was one of the larger "regular" launches for CMASS.

Sliding to the right, more cars and more people.  You can see our FlisKits booth on the right.
p1130729.jpg (78357 bytes)
Folks prepping rockets, folks tracking rockets, folks enjoying rockets!
p1130730.jpg (82916 bytes)
Like rockets disappearing into the sky, the cars disappeared into the distance during this full day of sport flying!
p1130731.jpg (54932 bytes)
Posing with the Cheetah! just before launch.  The launch picture amounted to just a puff of smoke as I couldn't catch it in the frame!
p1130736.jpg (53086 bytes)
One of many high powered flights this day, from Pad C
p1130743.jpg (56832 bytes)
A Praetor and a Deuce on Pad #1 & #2 ready for flight.
p1130744.jpg (57390 bytes)
The trademark dual smoke trails of a Deuce's Wild!
p1130745.jpg (12811 bytes)
Perfect launch, perfect recovery!
p1130751.jpg (22902 bytes)
A Maxi-Alpha rips into the sky!
p1130755.jpg (44768 bytes)
With rockets flying every 30-45 seconds, there was STILL a line at the RSO table waiting for pad assignments.  At times, models were waiting 2-3 deep for their assigned pad to clear.  A very busy day!
p1130760.jpg (63626 bytes)
As soon as Doug found out that we didn't have any Deuce's Wild! kits available this day, he took matters into his own hand with that big rocket, a helping hand and a box of kitchen matches!  HEY! Don't point that thing at ME!
p1130761.jpg (41925 bytes)
Another Praetor with a bright color scheme gets readied on the pad
p1130764.jpg (76216 bytes)
And off she goes!  A perfect boost, straight flight with no spin. A great flying rocket for sure!
p1130765.jpg (12204 bytes)
Great recovery under a bright green nylon chute
p1130763.jpg (41351 bytes)
The newly announced Tres (pronounced "Tray") waits for her turn for power!  If you look closely, you will notice a smoke trail to the right of the model and near where the Tres is pointing the bright puff of an ejection charge as a rocket deploys its recovery device.
p1130766.jpg (63175 bytes)
One of dozens of great flights for this, the first proto-type of the Tres model rocket.  Producing 3 distinct smoke trails, she never fails to excite the onlookers with her unique flight into the sky.
p1130767.jpg (13864 bytes)
A nice graceful return after a great flight.
p1130769.jpg (36678 bytes)
Doug's HPR rocket rips into the sky from Pad C
p1130770.jpg (11394 bytes)
Perfect deployment of her main chute for a gentle return to earth.
p1130771.jpg (64514 bytes)
Here, you can appreciate the size of the model and her chute as she just reaches the ground.
p1130772.jpg (33935 bytes)
The U.S.S. Grissom sits proudly on the pad waiting to take her passengers to far away places.  Problem is, she scoots so fast on the A10-3T motor that I was unable to catch a picture of this flight.
p1130776.jpg (45844 bytes)
All packed up and ready to go home.  This has become the easiest way to transport my growing fleet for short distances.
p1130777.jpg (76314 bytes)
OUCH! A Deuce's Wild! gets trashed when one motor cato's at ignition, gutting the inside of the model and causing a crimp in the main body tube.
shuttle.jpg (17462 bytes)
Somone launched a Space Shuttle model and I got some great pictures of the Orbiter gliding back
p1130778.jpg (55723 bytes)
One of the most beautiful Deuce's Wild! launch pictures I've ever taken.  Nearing sunset with the sun casting long shadows along the ground, this drag race of 2 Deuce's Wild! kits (a Deuce of Deuce's??) creates a startling image against the setting sun.

We had a great day of flying on this last day in the CMASS schedule.  Now it is time to repair, repaint and build more kits for the coming spring!
