![]() One of MANY Triskelion kits flown on our anniversary! |
![]() Perfect flight, perfect recovery! |
![]() Bob Harrington readies his Cheetah! |
![]() Glenn strikes the most common CMASS pose as he stares skyward surrounded by a fleet of FlisKits kits! |
![]() As I've seen on bumper stickers, "It ain't over till the Big Papi swings!" |
![]() Bill Ralston was FINALLY able to attend a launch! We've missed ya, Bill. t'was good to see you again :) |
![]() John Harland checking the crowd during his stint as RSO as a multi-staged bird takes off behind him. |
![]() Bill's large selection of FlisKits kits. This, the largest fleet on the field, won Bill a new Morning Star kit! |
![]() Some of John's beautifully finished FlisKits grace his table. |
![]() One of several Corona kits seen this day |
![]() Another Triskelion soars past the CMASS flag |
![]() Recovery is an important part of rocketry. Dad's are critical! |
![]() A wonderful UFFO makes an appearance! |
![]() And away we go! |
![]() Perfect flight perfect recovery. The day was filled with flights like this! |
![]() Tony Vincent's SEMROC (Don't know the name of this kit!) turns in a perfect flight! |
![]() Here we have the UFFO being preped for launch. |
![]() John Buscaglia's (I think) tube finned multi-staged rocket. Great boost but failed to light the sustainer. That's called a "Lawn Dart", folks... |
![]() UFFO lumbers into the air. The boy flying this noted that it broke upon landing and commented that this particular FlisKits kit doesn't seem to last long. Well, that's just the nature of foam cup rockets. A touch of glue and she'll be good as new! |
![]() Tony, like so many around him, sits at his table preparing rockets for flight. |
![]() There be Rhino's in the air! |
![]() And fallin' from the sky! |
![]() Bill loads his A.C.M.E. Spitfire on the pad |
![]() A beautiful Mars Lander gets some air time. |
![]() Bob's Richter Recker on a triplet of motors! |
![]() The Drake just looks SO KEWL in the air! |
![]() And the Thing-a-ma-Jig turns in some of the straightest flights ever! |
![]() CMASS city as residents relax, prep their models and spend the day socializing. |
The FlisKits booth in all her glory. |
![]() Another of the many Triskelion kits flown this day |
![]() Proto type H2O model ready for her maiden flight! |
![]() And the H2O puts in a good show on an A8-3 |
![]() This looks like Doug Gardei's Cheetah on a 1/2A6-0/A8-3 combo |
![]() Jim's proto type Micro to the MAXX HERC-5 on her maiden flight |
![]() Another shot from a different perspective. Expect this model to be released at NEMROC in November. |
![]() Hard to do, but I actually caught this bugger in flight! |
![]() A D-Nelson Tomahawk burns some BP |
![]() A true oddity, Bill Ralston had his Tumbleweed blown apart by an aggressive ejection charge. I have never seen anything like this and never would have thought it possible... |
![]() Another Drake. Yep, she sure do look purty in the air! |
![]() Jim's proto type Denali ready to go on a C6-5. Expected release late 2008 |
![]() This is another bird that just looks wonderful under power. |
![]() And under 'chute too! |
![]() One of the reasons we're all here today. Cake! |
![]() Good looking too! |
![]() Kathy cutting the cake. It tasted every bit as good as it looked! |
![]() Cool rocket launch. Not sure who's or what... |
John Harland's beautifully finished HERC-5. Since the body tubes are curved, he chose to sand a complimentary curve into the fins. I never thought of this, but it looks SO much better this way! Good job, John! |
![]() Another angle. Yep, still looks great! |
![]() A picture perfect launch of a Tres! |
![]() Another of the many proto types Jim flew this day. The Dead Ringer Micro to the MAXX model. This is very reminiscent of the Borealis design with similar elements. |
![]() A nice angle shot and the inset shows that I caught this one in flight too! Getting better with my new camera! |
![]() Thing-a-ma-Jigs were almost as prevalent as Triskelion's! |
![]() Group photo of the Frick-n-Frack drag racers! Doug missed this photo op but we had 6 flier, 7 models and a total of 14 motors burned during this, the most exciting drag race I have ever seen! |
Here's a shot of 4 of the 7 Frick-n-Frack models on the pad |
![]() Doug gets back from the Away Cell just in time to get his Frick-n-Frack on the pad for the drag race. |
![]() Only got 3 of the models burning in this picture, but all 7 did lift off. On the far left you can just see the smoke of ignition on the 3rd one. Man, that was exciting! Saucer parts EVERYWHERE! |
![]() Jim's proto type Avalear, the NEMROC anniversary kit for next month. This model is named after Glen Avalear in memory of his life and contribution to our hobby. |
![]() The Avalear turns in a perfect flight on an A8-3 |
![]() One of many HPR flights for the day. |
![]() A very nice looking Freedom Forge Missile. Note that the lower fins are swept forward on this build. Something that the builder (name?) did to help protect them from breakage. A great idea and a cool looking modification too! |
![]() John's HERC-5 takes to the air! |
![]() Two Triskelion's and a Rock Solid Deuce's Wild! to boot! (names??) |
![]() Jennifer's friends Arthur and his son Jake built this Thing-a-ma-Jig on the field and got her into the air more than once today! Congrats on a great build and successful set of flights! |
![]() Another shot of the crowd on this most perfect launch day! |
![]() Posing with their Triskelion's before a drag race! |
![]() A most unique scratch built with a nose cone that is nearly 7" long! The longest nose cone (for that diameter) I have ever seen. A simply beautiful design that flew great! |
![]() An HPR bird takes off in the distance at Away Cell A |
![]() Another Thing-a-ma-Jig, painted like a candy cane, gets good air |
![]() Cameron Kruger was the big winner today with a Whatcamacallit and a Morning Star! Congrat Cameron! |
![]() It wouldn't be a FlisKits launch without a Deuce's Wild! in the air! |
![]() Jim Salem's Bucky Jones turns in a beautiful flight! |
![]() Bill Spadafora's vintage Estes 1:70 scale Saturn 1B turns in a great flight even though only 3 of the 4 motors lit. |
![]() Another D-Nelson Tomahawk finds the sky |
![]() Doug shows me his modification to the Cheetah that helps reduce staging problems. |
![]() This closeup shoes how he extended the booster and put a reverse motor block to keep the booster motor from kicking out the back. Great modification! |
![]() Arthur and Jake work on their Thing-a-ma-Jig (photo by Jen Flis) |
![]() It's very rare that Jim gets a picture in the photo album as he is the one behind the camera most of the time (photo by Jen) |
![]() Arthur with his FlisKits catalog is getting ready to get the most out of this hobby with the right kits! |
