Auburn, MA
Public Library
Joan Noonan, of the Auburn
Public Library contacted me a couple of months ago to
discuss the possibility of doing a rocket build/launch to
coincide with their reading of "The Rocket Boys" as
a part of their library program.
Only too happy to
help, when my schedule allows, we set some dates and started
to put together some numbers of how many builders we could
expect.
The build took place
2 weeks ago, with a room full of excited young modelers and
their excited parents too! We had two hours to build the
Thing-a-ma-Jig
kit, which is more than enough time. Extra time
was taken up discussing model rocketry as well as Auburn's
historic place in the world of rocketry. This was, after
all, the home of all of Robert Goddard's early rocketry
work!
This past weekend
Kathy and I traveled back down to Auburn to help the kids
launch their Thing-a-ma-Jig kits while enjoying an afternoon
in the New England sun.
This photo album
covers the build session as well as the launch. If you
recognize yourself in any of these pictures and would like a
full size (high resolution) version of the photo, please feel
free to send me an email with your request. Please be
sure to request the actual file name to make it easier for me
to locate the correct photo.
