Brought to you by the New England Air Museum and
sponsored by the Space Island Group, the IGNITE Foundation, Continental Airlines, Aldrich
Astronomical Society and more.
It was a special day for me in Windsor Locks, CT
while participating in the 2007 Space Expo at the New England Air Museum. While I have attended
many shows such as this one, I wore more hats than I usually do. I was here
representing FlisKits as a model rocket kit manufacturer. But in addition to that I
was also representing the IGNITE
Foundation as a member of its Board of Directors. Last, but certainly
not least, I was representing education and educators in their quest to bring aerospace
education to their students in a combined goal to raise the level of technology education
our young children get exposed to in our school systems.
It was a busy day with dozens of exhibits, much
of it hands on allowing the attending public to actually explore the realm of
micro-gravity, look through a telescope, try on a REAL pair of space gloves, fly the
Wright Brother's airplane and meet astronaut Winston Scott himself.
My photo album missed much of the show as my
batteries died before I could really capture the essence of the day, and for that I
apologize. But the album I provide gives you a glimpse of not only the depth of the
2007 Space Expo but also of the location in the heart of one of the best aero museums in
the north east.
If you get the chance and are in the New England
area, do yourself a favor and spend a day at the New England Air Museum. You will be
glad you did. And just wait till the 2008 Space Expo!
The photo album at the left is just a small
sampling of the day. If you get a chance, fly with a club, fly with kids, teach the
kids. Have fun and enjoy!
