NEMROC
2007
For a galaxy of fun!
All around, it was a
wonderful, if not weird (weather wise) weekend!
NEMROC '07
was lightly attended but that didn't stop us from having a
simply wonderful time with friends and family at this annual
rocketry gathering. Originating in the 1980's, NEMROC
ran for 10 years before disappearing for over a decade.
With the help of CMASS, FlisKits, and dozens of hard working
volunteers we were able to bring it back 3 years ago, and the
tradition continues!
With about 40-50
folks attending, representing all age groups and skill levels,
there was no lack of things for them to see and do from build
sessions, seminars, chats and even hot dogs.
It was great to see Cosmodrome
Rocketry there along with HobbyTown
USA (Nashua store) and FlisKits, giving everyone a
very wide array of items to purchase. It was also
wonderful meeting up with old friends again such as Glenn
Avalear and Dick Nelson (of Pearl River Mod-Roc and D-Nelson
Tomahawk fame!). FlisKits donated 20 each of our new Nanite
kit, Whatchamacallit
kits, and Triple
Threat kits to be given out to each registered
guest. Needless to say, the Nanite's went quick!
It was a wonderful
venue for FlisKits to announce their newest kit, the MttM
Nanite slide wing rocket glider, as well as to show off the
many new kits and ideas that will be coming out of FlisKits in
the coming months and quarters.
Day 1 was the
conference day. With a hurricane
whipping up the coast the rain and winds were strong and
non-stop, but we were safe and warm inside the school.
Day 2 was the all day sport launch. We had expected mild
winds and moderate warmth. We were met with strong
gusts, steady wind and nippy temperatures, but that didn't dissuade
us one bit!
We started out
flying very slowly, usually only 1 or 2 rockets filling the 11
available pads, but that changed and before long the pads were
full and the line was forming. Heck, I got about 10
flights in myself, with my Decaffeinator being the only model
I wanted to fly that didn't!
The photo album at the left
gives you a glimpse into the fun that was had in Amesbury this
past weekend. Clicking on a thumbnail will bring up a
full size (low res) image in this frame. If you see a
picture you like and would like a full size version, just send
me an email
with the filename and I will get it right out to you!
Enjoy!
