June 30th in Acton, MA
The June 30th launch with CMASS at the Acton, MA
field was lightly attended with an even mix of club members as well as local spectators.
It was a beautiful day, though rather windy. It didn't stop the flying nor
dampen the spirits. It did, however, keep blowing my booth all over the field, so
after a while it looked like I was closed though I wasn't...
It was exciting to get a chance to chat with all
the spectators and answer questions about what was going on. Many had done rocketry
as a youngster or had at least heard of it but not seen it before. Many others had
never even conceived of such a hobby and were enthralled by it.
The watched, listened and asked questions.
Several even bought kits and walked away with a clear understanding of what else
they would need to be able to fly and also to get help when they needed it. With
about 50 or so people in attendance there were never really any lines and we only got off
about 290 or so models, but it was still a full day of fun with friends. You should
try it!
The photo album at the left is just a small
sampling of the day. If you get a chance, fly with a club, fly with kids, teach the
kids. Have fun and enjoy!
