Our first fishing outing was to Natticook Lake (Wasserman Park) in Merriamack.   Always easy to catch *something* and to help build their confidence for more difficult fishing later on.

Sunfish and Blue Gills abound while fishing with worms from the docks.  This is to be expected, but is still great fun (and Blue Gills are great eating too!).  All of our fishing is catch-and-release though.

A dock full of boys fishing.  Ain't it great!??!

You will see in the coming photo's that this boy had, bar none, the best luck fishing!

Case in point!

My favorite picture of the whole series.  This is the most peaceful setting I could imagine.

And, of course, the U.S. Coast Guard has to horn in... LOL

Everyone was having good luck and pulling in the fish.

So, I decided it was time to teach them something new.  How to bait a hook for weedless fishing as well as how to use artificial lures to catch bass and pickerel.

Quick learners as we have our first (of several) small mouth bass.

Another tranquil shot at the shore line.

Pickerel too!  These boys are learning the tricks of lures.

As I said, best luck of the group.  This is our 2nd trip at Horse Shoe pond.   Great bass fishing if you can get to the weeded areas.  Fishing from shore we're nearly restricted to sun fish.  But the kids put what they learned to use and cast lures and weedless bait into what weeds we could reach.  No bass today though.

A close-up of the last fish.

This is a new one!

There's something about going fishing on the lake shore that is just so...    ...RIGHT.

Our last trip was a little fishing spot near my home on the Merriamck River.  Great for sunnies, rock bass, small mouth, trout and even salmon.  I often fish here at night for Carp.  Here's our fist of the day.

Enjoying the tranquility of the river.  In the foreground you can see a pole propped up on a stick.  I had this out teaching them Carp fishing.  We didn't get one, but had lots of nibbles.

Mister Lucky had great luck catching fish but did NOT like putting bait on a hook.  I was determined not to do the work for him this trip making sure he understood that if he wanted to fish he was getting his hands dirty.

L:ike it or not!

Our first "stick fish" of the day!

And, again with the goofing off! LOL  Ah, to be a kid again :)

Ok, time for a group photo.  Naturally there's one in every crowd that has to "cut up" for the camera...  geeze...
p1010430.jpg (75482 bytes)
So we try it again.  On man!  Why can't 4 kids sit still and smile for 1/500th of a second!??!

BUT!
The beauty of photo editing tools!  This is why I always take several group photo pictures.  Just in case... :)
