A close up of Jim Flis' Chapstick plastic model conversion just before a PERFECT flight and streamer deployment.  More details on this build can be found below.  No, this is NOT a kit, but is a fun scratch build!

Even though it was wet and cold, we still had a pretty good turnout!

I am not sure who's rocket this is nor *what* rocket this is, but it seemed like the perfect picture with those two children in the background.

Rain gear and rockets, it's a beautiful thing!

Long OverDue is due for some air time!

Here is a pre-flight picture of the Humming Bird, a new Micromaxx Slide-Wind Rocket Glider that we hope to have out this summer.  This was her maiden flight.  Due to the rain, the wing stuck in mid-point and she never glided, though she did have a perfect boost.  2 subsiquent flights were perfect start to finish!

Here are some images of my plastic model conversion of an actual Chapstick container.   I was amazed with how perfectly she flew, reaching a hight of about 75 feet, with perfect deployment of her mylar streamer!

Here are some details pix of the boiler-plate of the Humming Bird rocket glider.  Top shows the slide wing in "boost" mode and the bottom shows it in "glide" mode.  The model changes mode when the ejection charge burns through a thread that is holding the wing back.

These images show the Humming Bird from the side and under-side

This closeup shows how the hold down thread is threaded through a launch lug and back up to the front of the model.

Another interesting model flown this day was the "Sputter-Nik", a micromaxx version of the Sput-Nik.  While a bit wobbly, she flew fine.  At this time, we are considering this as a complimentary kit that we can give out at shows.

The Nomad, built by Tony Vincent.  Here she is in her package (though the protective wraping has been removed to reveil the rocket).  A very sturdy box and rock solid packaging!

Here is a close up of the tail section showing the level of detail Tony provided

An even closer view of the fins and fin joint.  Incredible!

This view shows just how sharp Tonly was able to get the point of the red detail on this model.

Tony has also loaned me his OverDrive and Long OverDue models.  Here is the OverDrive.

This close up shows some of the detail and quality of finish
p1010032.jpg (35703 bytes)
A nice shot of the Long OverDue showing the shiny nature of the finish.  Beautiful!

The Flea, built by Pat Butler.  Also packaged incredibly well, this Flea is simply BEAUTIFUL!
p1010034.jpg (60273 bytes)
This view shows the Flea main decal and the black fins
p1010035.jpg (53841 bytes)
This show shows the fin decal and yellow.  Pat went through great effort to exactly match the mustard-yellow tone of this bird and she is simply too pretty for words!   Thank you Pat and Tony!
