CATO launch, July 2005

A typical rack of models at the recent CATO launch!
I've been meaning to fly with these guys for quite a while
and I finally got the chance! Al Gloer was kind enough to invite me (he's been
inviting me for quite a while now... ) and I finally took him up on his offer.
This was very good timing too. I had just finished a
VERY large foam cup rocket called Dudley Do-Right, standing 18.5 feet
tall and using a cluster of 4 D motors and it hadn't flown yet. I wanted to fly this
beast at NARAM in 3 weeks, but did not dare have a maiden flight there and wanted to test
it before the trip to Ohio.
I had two launches coming up, this one and a CMASS launch.
Weather being what it is in New England, I didn't want to chance a cancellation due
to wind so I planned on going to both launches with Dudley. Good thing too as I was
unable to launch her at the CMASS launch so the launch here with CATO was her first and
only before going to NARAM!
The folks at CATO were wonderful! I set up a small
booth and commenced flying. I saw many FlisKits models being flown there along with
a whole slew of other kits and scratch builts. There is no question that I will be
flying with CATO again, at least once a year.
Also, while I was able to get Dudley into the air I was not
able to get any pictures of her. Al Gloer was kind enough to send some to me and I
have included them here as noted. (Thank you Al)
